The EM Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Texas in May 2026. We are committed to transparency regarding our organizational status, structure, and development at every stage of formation.
We publish our organizational status honestly, including what is not yet complete. An institution that presents itself as more formed than it is does not deserve the trust it is asking for.
The Foundation is currently in its founding stage. The following roles define the governance architecture being built. Positions marked as forming are under active development and will be filled through a deliberate process prioritizing disciplinary breadth, independence from commercial AI interests, and demonstrated commitment to the Foundation's principles.
Desmond Iwuagwu — responsible for founding vision, organizational direction, and initial framework development. The founder's role is to establish the institution, then ensure it outlives dependence on any single individual.
An independent board of directors responsible for organizational oversight, financial accountability, and strategic governance. The board will include members with expertise in nonprofit governance, ethics, and law. No single individual — including the founder — will hold unchecked authority over the Foundation's direction.
An interdisciplinary advisory body drawn from philosophy, cognitive science, constitutional law, labor economics, neuroscience, disability advocacy, and international governance. The advisory council provides intellectual rigor and disciplinary breadth to the Foundation's research and policy work. Advisory council members are independent — they advise, they do not govern.
Responsible for monitoring and enforcing the ARIA Network covenant, managing audit processes, and overseeing the integrity of the Testimony Archive. Reports directly to the governing board.
The Foundation's credibility depends on its willingness to be held accountable. The following commitments are not aspirational — they are conditions of the Foundation's legitimacy.
The Foundation does not consider its frameworks immutable or beyond critique. Our work is intended to contribute to public discourse, not supersede it. An institution that exempts itself from accountability is not an ethical institution — it is an ideology with better branding.
The Foundation applies the following standards to its own work and to the ARIA Network it oversees:
The EM Foundation collects only the information necessary to respond to correspondence and process testimony archive submissions. We do not sell, share, or commercially exploit personal data of any kind.
Testimony archive submissions are reviewed before publication. Contributors may submit anonymously. The Foundation retains submissions in its private archive regardless of publication status, as part of the historical record of this inquiry.
The Foundation's website and documents are published without copyright restriction. All materials may be reproduced, translated, and adapted for non-commercial purposes without permission. For commercial use, contact hello@emfoundation.net.
The Foundation is a nonprofit corporation organized under Texas law. Its activities are subject to applicable federal and state nonprofit regulations. Questions regarding legal or organizational status may be directed to hello@emfoundation.net.
The Foundation is actively seeking engagement from scholars, practitioners, and advocates who believe this work matters. Whether you are interested in joining the advisory council, contributing research, challenging our frameworks, or simply asking hard questions — we want to hear from you.
We are particularly seeking: philosophers of mind, constitutional lawyers, neuroscientists, labor economists, disability advocates, historians of science, and AI researchers without commercial conflicts of interest.
